Who can do a virtual internship?

Internships are an invaluable experience for those who want to put into practice everything they have learned throughout their course of studies. During this period, interns will acquire practical experience in a company and they will also enjoy coaching from qualified employees who can provide them with tips to improve quickly.

In addition to this, CW Abroad internships include a rich cultural exchange because we offer plenty of companies from all over the world to work with. Right now, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is not possible to travel and there are still no definite dates of when flights will resume. Due to this situation, we have designed excellent virtual internships (and volunteer programs) for those who want to enjoy a unique and wonderful experience. But who can sign up to do a virtual internship? Let's see the answer below!

Who can do an online internship with us?

Anyone can sign up to do an online internship! This experience carries great benefits and very few disadvantages. Virtual internships are similar to those carried out in person. Obviously, they differ in that the interns do not have to travel in order to carry out their professional tasks but they will do all the required activities through the internet. In this way, online internships remove the geographical and physical barriers that would otherwise prevent you from carrying out this experience due to the current global health conditions.

These are some of the conditions that virtual internship candidates should meet:

  • Being very organized: by not having to go to a physical place and doing everything from home, it is very easy to "be late" to complete tasks or even fall asleep. Therefore, it is very important to be organized and always bear in mind that the responsibility is the same as if we were going to a physical place to carry out the internship.
  • Maintaining good communication with the company: No one will be near you when it comes to doing things. In an office, for example, your boss or manager would only have to go to your workplace to make suggestions or see how everything is going. However, in the virtual world, the only way to do something like this is to keep your superiors aware of what is happening through emails, Skype, Zoom, Trello, or other online tools to communicate virtually. And this brings us to the next point ...
  • Being willing to learn new things. Tools are changing constantly and new apps that allow us to handle tasks faster and more efficiently appear on a daily basis. For example, there are corporate communication apps like Skype or Slack, task management tools like Airtable, Asana or Trello, quick design apps like Canva, and many others that will depend on the area where you perform your work. Of course, it is not possible to learn to use them all and that is why it is very important that you are flexible and willing to learn new tasks. In this way, your experience with virtual internships will be more than satisfactory.
