The minimum duration of your stay required in this medical program is two weeks.

Volunteers have to be either medical professionals or students with proven knowledge in the field of medicine and health. To be able to join this program, volunteers must supply their most recent CV.

Locations and duration

Chiang Mai is away from the buzzle of international tourism and gives the tourist coming here a chance to have a taste of the locals lifestyle.

Programs in Chiang Mai start on the first and third Monday of each month, but volunteers are required to arrive on the previous Friday.

NOTE: This program will be closed throughout the entire month of April 2018. All placements will need to be completed on or before the 31st March '18. Applications can then be accepted for programs commencing 7th May '18.

Accommodation and meals

Accommodation will take place at a comfortable volunteer house in the chosen city, be it Bangkok or Chiang Mai. Volunteers will be provided breakfast here, and lunch will normally take place at the internship hospital on working days. They will be able to enjoy their evenings and weekends to travel and explore Thailand, or simply to relax on their own or with other fellow volunteers!

Orientation

We require volunteers to arrive in Chiang Mai between the hours of 8am and 8pm on the Friday prior to their project start date.

You’ll be introduction to thai culture and customs, rules and expectations, safety measures, travel opportunities, introduction to the the different projects and placements available.

During this orientation period you’ll also have the opportunity to meet other volunteers, exchange contact details and make new friends to share your spare time.

Working schedule

The typical routine as part of this project involves work from 8am to 4pm from Monday to Friday. This schedule may vary depending on the hospital department and the doctor that interns are paired with. Interns are expected to be patient and flexible regarding their timetables.

Groupal shopping trips to the local market places are organized each Saturday evening, which allows volunteers to enjoy some spare time together while getting stocked for the following week.

The rest of the weekend is free and volunteers can go sightseeing in the surroundings and exploring places like the “Golden triangle” (the common border among Thailand, Laos and Myanmar), take a rafting tour down the Kok river or sail down the Mekong.
